Winner of the Fiskars prize:

Winner was from those who commented on either post about the Fiskars video; selected randomly.  Thanks for watching!!

Vicki - please e-mail me at walkingonsunshine73@yahoo.com with your address and I'll ship these goodies off to you.  And put "prize" or "blog" in the subject line...lest I get you confused with the the kind Nigerian Prince who keeps e-mailing me about his financial issues.

HA!! I think we all feel that way with the darn packaging that everything comes in today!! But that stampy thing looked like it was worth the effort to get it out of the packaging!! Without a video like that I would have passed it by in the store!! thanks for sharing!! Got my fingers and toes crossed that you PICK ME!! hehehe

Fiskars Demo

Fiskars Demo

About that demo (above)

1. I was under the impression my hair looked better than that.

2. There is a give away info in the video.

3. I would be embarrissed to tell you how long it took us to figure out how to get this on the blog.  Clearly,  can't figure out how to put text with it yet.

4. "The camera adds 10 pounds"

"How many cameras are on you?"

Can you name waht TV character said that?

5. Super thanks to Fiskars for sending the cool stuff!

6. No actual easy stamp press sets were harmed during the filming.

7. I have a flip cam corder thingie now...it is a whole new blog world.

8. The give away will posted Tues night at 9 pm, EST.

9. My hands look old.

10. I tried very hard not to say um...instead I blinked extra.  Apparently.

teachers

Puppet

1. "Self Puppet" by Max

2. I'm reading A Thomas Jefferson Education. It is a really interesting approach to education.

It got me thinking about my favorite teachers.
Why were they my favorites?

Mrs. Howard
8th grade science
She made the idea of asking questions and finding the answers interesting
She taught us to follow directions
That sounds remedial...but I had never been taught that before.

Miss Clark
Teacher's Assistant in 2nd grade
She listened to me about the reading group I was in and let me switch

Mr. Strong
8th grade History and English
The first time we ever had in class discussions
or autonomy to select projects to work on

Mrs. Watson
8th grade drama
she valued our opinions
and let us make choices

Ms. Valley
College professor
She had the most experience with Special Ed.
and had so many practicle applications for teaching

Dr. Kelihare
College professor
He was so passionate about education
it was infectious

Dr. Radel
College professor
He taught us it was more important to understand and intrerpret for yourself instead of listing what all the experts believed.

It is interesting to see that 8th grade and college were the two times I had the teachers I liked the most.
Were they so inspiring because they loved their subject matter? Had a passion for their students? Created and environment that fostered exploration?

Who are/were your favorite teachers?
Why?

birthday central

Ddd

This one had a swim party on Friday.
And turned 11 on Saturday.

Mmm

This one had a karate party on Saturday.
And turns 6 on Tuesday.

Aaa

And this one was just along for the ride because it is/was not his birthday this weekend.

I can't believe I have an 11 year old.
Or that my baby is 6.
Or that I have 3 boys...somedays.
I mean, it is believable
because they are, like, right there
(homeschooling= right right there all the time)
But
wow.
I'm reaaaallllly glad there wasn't an entrance exam for getting to do this job
because I am not sure I would have passed.
I mean...11 is half way to 22.
I feel like I should be imparting some serious wisdom
or something.
Maybe this is all the wisdom I'm going to have to work with.
Most days that = pretty good.
Some days that = yipes.

Happy Monday!
